Frequently Asked Questions
IS TANNING GOOD FOR YOU?
All of the latest research indicates a resounding YES. A tan is a very natural process and these studies are proving that moderate year-round indoor tanning is critical in maintaining optimal vitamin D levels and overall good health. They also show that most people are over-using sunscreen and not receiving the many benefits of regular sun exposure. Visit www.tanningtruth.com for more information.
How do you make your tan darker and last longer?
1. The key is to always use an indoor tanning accelerator every visit. Never tan dry. Dry skin is very reflective actually slowing down the tanning process. Daily moisturizers, bleach free shower products, and exfoliating scrubs are also critical and should be used to keep your skin in great tanning shape.
2. Get on a regular schedule - twice a week is super. Also try tanning in many different types of our tanning systems. They all tan a little different and we have 4 different types to choose from. Ask one of our certified Urban Sun Tanning Consultants for a recommendation based on your needs.
Why are tanning lotions necessary?
Tanning without a lotion will deplete your skin of its much-needed moisture. Indoor tanning lotions can help stimulate the production of melanin, your skin’s natural dark pigment, so that your skin tans more quickly, gets darker and keeps its tan longer. Plus, our lotions have moisturizers that keep your skin soft and healthy. Premium lotions deliver vitamins, moisturizers, natural oils and other ingredients to revitalize the skin and encourage melanin production .
What are upgrades and why should you use them?
Upgrades are sessions to higher intensity beds that utilize a very high performance lamp. These beds are designed so that you maximize your melanin production and get darker and longer lasting results. Depending on your membership, most customers can tan on these beds for 50% off their normal price. Ask about the buy 4, Get 1 FREE Special.
Why can you only tan once in a 24 hour period?
Studies have proven the tanning process takes about 24 hours to complete after a normal session. Tanning more than once during this time period can result in sunburn. As a result, Urban Sun follows the 24-hour guideline. The new technology lamps used at Urban Sun ensure you receive superior results every time you visit, thus requiring less visits to the salon to achieve and maintain your Urban Sun tan.
Can you tan and use Mystic Tan in the same visit?
Yes, many customers tan in their favorite tanning bed first, then they will use Mystic Tan immediately after. The result – a deep, dark bronze tan!
